VDS_E_NO_DISCOVERY_DOMAIN
VDS_E_NO_DISCOVERY_DOMAIN means an iSNS-dependent VDS operation could not find a discovery domain containing the local initiator. In iSNS, discovery domains control which storage nodes are allowed to discover one another.
Verify iSNS registration and membership
- Confirm that the initiator node is registered with the intended iSNS server.
- Inspect the discovery-domain membership rather than only the iSCSI target list.
- Check name consistency for the initiator across VDS, the Microsoft iSCSI service and iSNS.
Manually adding a target portal can provide connectivity without fixing discovery-domain policy, so it is not equivalent remediation. If iSNS is no longer part of the design, remove the dependency from the management workflow instead of fabricating a domain solely to satisfy the legacy VDS call.
