Call WinBioGetCredentialState for the same WINBIO_IDENTITY and credential type when that API is available to the component.
Confirm that enrollment and credential provisioning completed for the account that is actually being authenticated.
Do not assume that a biometric template in an application-specific private database is a Windows logon credential.

The system sensor pool is used for Windows authentication scenarios and associates user identities with biometric templates, while private pools can use application-managed GUID identities and databases. When this error appears, log the identity type, pool, and credential operation. Re-enrollment may be relevant only after confirming that the expected Windows credential is genuinely absent.
