WINBIO_E_INVALID_TICKET
WINBIO_E_INVALID_TICKET is a token-lifetime failure in WBF’s protected operation flow. The constant explicitly distinguishes an incorrect ticket from one that is no longer current, so a cached ticket should not be treated as a durable identifier such as a WINBIO_UNIT_ID or template identity.
Trace ticket creation and consumption
- Log the operation that produced the ticket and the operation that later consumed it without logging ticket contents as reusable credentials.
- Check whether the application queues work long enough for a ticket to expire or reuses a ticket after the associated operation/session changed.
- Do not retry indefinitely with the same ticket; obtain a new ticket through the documented flow that created the original one.
Windows Biometric Framework separates client applications from biometric data and uses framework-managed identifiers and protected service boundaries. Treat ticket values as opaque, short-lived framework state. Copying them between sessions, persisting them, or manufacturing values from application data defeats the intended ownership model and is the first place to inspect for this HRESULT.
