CERT_E_UNTRUSTEDTESTROOT
CERT_E_UNTRUSTEDTESTROOT means that the certification path terminates at a test root certificate. Windows policy intentionally treats such roots differently from production trust anchors.
Use a production PKI for production traffic
- Identify the root certificate and confirm whether it belongs to a development or test hierarchy.
- For a controlled test environment, distribute the intended test root through the approved test policy rather than changing production trust settings.
- For production, obtain a certificate that chains to the authorized production root.
Do not resolve this by broadly trusting a test root on user machines outside the explicitly controlled environment.
