WU_E_INVENTORY_RESULT_UPLOAD_FAILED
WU_E_INVENTORY_RESULT_UPLOAD_FAILED indicates that inventory collection completed far enough to produce a result, but reporting that result back to the update service failed. The immediate consequence can be stale applicability or compliance information on the service.
What to check
- Find the preceding transport, authentication, or serialization error in the update log; this HRESULT is often only the final inventory-stage wrapper.
- Check whether the issue is isolated to reporting or also prevents normal scan and download activity.
- For WSUS or another managed source, correlate the client timestamp with server-side reporting or web-service logs.
