STATUS_DOMAIN_TRUST_INCONSISTENT
The domain trust metadata is inconsistent
This status means the trust relationship data does not agree with the domain identity being used. The conflict can involve domain name, SID, or trust metadata, and it should be investigated as a trust-configuration issue.
It is different from simply being unable to locate a domain controller. Here the trust information exists but is inconsistent with the identity presented.
What to inspect
- Compare domain DNS name, NetBIOS name, SID, and trust direction/type.
- Look for domain rename, forest migration, restore, or stale trust records.
- Correlate with Netlogon and KDC events on both sides of the trust.
