Redundant copies might be out of sync
Windows returns this status when one or more copies may no longer contain identical data and a data-integrity scan is required. Writes are blocked because another update would make it harder to establish which copy is authoritative.
The correct response is to run the supported integrity or repair workflow for the storage stack, not to bypass the write prohibition. On ReFS with integrity streams and resilient Storage Spaces, checksums can identify the valid copy and support a corrective write. Without checksums, the storage provider may need its own resynchronization procedure.
What to inspect
- Check the health of every mirror or parity member.
- Run the provider-supported data-integrity scan and wait for completion.
- Confirm redundancy is restored before allowing writes again.
