STATUS_ALREADY_HAS_STREAM_ID means an operation tried to associate a file with a stream identifier while a different identifier was already assigned. The conflict is about object identity, not file contents. Repeating the request with the same stale assumptions will not resolve it.

- Verify that the request targets the intended file object and not a reopened or redirected path.
- Serialize competing association operations for the same file.
- Follow the documented detach or replacement procedure instead of overwriting metadata directly.
Typical cause
The status can appear when two components independently claim the same file, when recovery code replays an association step, or when a cached identifier belongs to an earlier incarnation of the object. Log both the requested and existing identifiers to make the conflict visible.
