RPC_NT_ZERO_DIVIDE
Server-side integer divide-by-zero during RPC dispatch
RPC_NT_ZERO_DIVIDE belongs to the Windows RPC runtime NTSTATUS facility. MS-RPCE extends the DCE/RPC model: generated stubs marshal parameters, the runtime binds to an endpoint and protocol sequence, and security or transport failures can be returned as RPC facility status values.
This status is a server execution fault propagated through the RPC call path. It indicates that the remote procedure began executing and hit an integer divide-by-zero exception in server code or code called by the server manager routine.
This is different from a marshaling failure. The client parameters may be the trigger, but the place to debug is the server implementation, generated stub boundary, and any validation that should reject a zero divisor before the calculation.
What to check
- Identify the RPC interface UUID, opnum, and server process handling the call.
- Capture the server exception context or crash dump rather than only the client-side RPC status.
- Check whether the fault is input-dependent and whether the server validates denominators or counts before arithmetic.
