STATUS_CTX_INVALID_WD
The Terminal Connection driver entry is invalid
A Terminal Connection or WinStation driver is part of the session host infrastructure that creates and manages interactive sessions. This status points to server-side RDS component state rather than to credentials or application launch failure.
It is most useful when a listener exists but session creation fails early. The right evidence is service and component initialization, not only RDP client error text.
What to inspect
- Check Remote Desktop Services role installation and listener configuration.
- Review TermService startup events and any recent driver or hardening changes.
- Determine whether local console sessions work while remote WinStation creation fails.
