MF_E_UNSUPPORTED_SCHEME is returned when IMFSourceResolver::CreateObjectFromURL cannot handle the URL scheme. It is not a DNS failure or an HTTP status code.

Check resolver input

Log the exact URL, scheme, and source-resolver flags.
For a local file, a plain file name is accepted; adding file: is not required.
Make sure the requested object type and flags are not mutually exclusive, then use a source handler that supports the actual protocol.

The correction is to provide a supported source path or appropriate handler, not to retry the same unsupported scheme.
