MF_E_TOPO_STREAM_DESCRIPTOR_NOT_SELECTED identifies a mismatch between topology construction and presentation configuration. The source-stream node references a stream descriptor, but that stream is not selected in the presentation descriptor attached to the node.

Use one selection snapshot consistently

Enumerate streams with GetStreamDescriptorByIndex and create topology branches only when the returned selection flag is true.
If the application changes selection, rebuild or update source nodes from the modified presentation descriptor before setting the topology.
Do not mix a stream descriptor from one descriptor snapshot with a separately created presentation descriptor.

Selected streams produce data when the source starts; deselected streams do not. The loader therefore rejects a branch that asks the topology to consume a stream the source presentation says is inactive.
