What does NTSTATUS 0xC0140004 (STATUS_ACPI_INVALID_INDEX) mean?

STATUS_ACPI_INVALID_INDEX

STATUS_ACPI_INVALID_INDEX is a bounds condition inside AML evaluation. AML operations can select elements from packages, buffers or other indexed objects; the requested index did not designate an element that the target object contains. The relevant pair is the target object and the attempted index, not merely the method name.

This differs from STATUS_ACPI_INVALID_ARGUMENT, where an expected argument is absent, and from STATUS_ACPI_INVALID_ACCESS_SIZE, where a field transfer does not fit the declared field or region. Here the interpreter resolved an indexed object but its element range did not include the requested position.

Indexing crossed the bounds of an AML object
