STATUS_GRAPHICS_INVALID_VIDEO_PRESENT_TARGET
Targets are output endpoints, not source modes
A video present target is the VidPN-side representation of an output endpoint. It can correspond to a physical connector or other display target exposed by the adapter. This status says that the target ID used by the operation is not valid in the current adapter context.
The result does not establish that a connected monitor is defective. A topology may include a target with no monitor attached, while an invalid target ID is an object-identification problem. Check enumeration and adapter ownership before investigating timing or EDID data.
Useful evidence
- Record the target ID, child-device enumeration result, connector state, and adapter context.
- Rebuild target mappings after hot-plug and after a display miniport reset.
- Distinguish an invalid target ID from
STATUS_GRAPHICS_NO_AVAILABLE_VIDPN_TARGET, where valid targets exist but none can be assigned to the source.
