STATUS_GRAPHICS_EMPTY_ADAPTER_MONITOR_MODE_SUPPORT_INTERSECTION
Each side has modes, but the intersection is empty
STATUS_GRAPHICS_EMPTY_ADAPTER_MONITOR_MODE_SUPPORT_INTERSECTION is a compatibility result. The adapter may expose candidate modes and the monitor may advertise modes, yet the VidPN manager cannot find one that both sides support on the current target path. This is different from an invalid descriptor and different from a malformed mode object.
The intersection can change with link configuration, dock or converter capabilities, color format, bandwidth, scaling, or a hot-plug event. A safe diagnostic capture includes both sets of candidate modes and the specific connection path; a screen resolution list alone cannot explain which constraint removed the last common mode.
What to check
- Log adapter candidate modes, monitor-advertised modes, link state, color format, bandwidth-relevant settings, and target ID.
- Compare direct and intermediary connection paths before inferring that the panel or GPU is defective.
- Keep invalid-data errors separate from a valid but empty compatibility intersection.
