STATUS_GRAPHICS_OPM_RESOLUTION_TOO_HIGH
STATUS_GRAPHICS_OPM_RESOLUTION_TOO_HIGH is returned when the protected output cannot enable the requested technology at the current screen resolution. It is not a generic rendering error: the rejected operation is the requested output-protection configuration under the active signal format.
OPM can report the actual output format and supported protection mechanisms. Those values should be examined together with the content policy before changing a display mode; lowering resolution only makes sense when the protection rule and the output’s documented capability support that choice.
Useful evidence
- Capture the actual output format, requested protection mechanism, connector, and current desktop mode.
- Separate this from HDCP-not-supported: the technology may exist but be unavailable for the current resolution.
- Do not disable protection as a diagnostic shortcut when protected content requires it; use the application’s permitted fallback path.
