STATUS_NDIS_INVALID_DEVICE_REQUEST
The operation does not apply to the selected NDIS target
STATUS_NDIS_INVALID_DEVICE_REQUEST means the caller selected an operation that the target device does not accept in that role. This is broader than an unknown OID: an identifier can be known while the operation type, device class, port, or current operating context makes it invalid.
Diagnose the triple of target, operation, and state. Repeating the request with a larger buffer or a different timing interval will not repair a request whose semantics do not apply to the selected interface.
Evidence that narrows it
- Log the target adapter or port, OID or operation type, request method, and the driver-model role that received it.
- Check whether the operation applies to a physical miniport, virtual miniport, filter module, or a specific port only.
- Differentiate this status from
STATUS_NDIS_INVALID_OIDandSTATUS_NDIS_NOT_SUPPORTEDbefore changing feature negotiation.
