The quantization parameter controls reconstruction precision in video and image-codec operations. This status means the parameter is outside the range or mode accepted by the selected primitive.
It should be investigated at the syntax-layer boundary: decoder-side QP often comes from a slice, macroblock, or VOP header, while encoder-side QP is normally application-controlled.
Diagnostic focus
- Record the codec mode and the header field from which QP was obtained.
- Check whether delta-QP arithmetic wrapped or crossed a profile-specific bound.
- For encoders, validate rate-control output before passing it into the IPP primitive.
