This status belongs to the deprecated Intel IPP regular-expression API. It is raised before matching, while compiling or configuring a Perl-compatible pattern, when the option set is outside the API contract.
Do not confuse it with a syntax error inside the pattern text. First inspect the options argument, wrapper flags, case-sensitivity mode, multiline handling, and any application-specific translation layer.

- Log the original option flags and the IPP-specific value passed to the API.
- Check whether flags from another regex engine were copied directly.
