AAC section data groups scalefactor bands that use the same codebook. This status points to the section codebook identifier itself: the bitstream selects a codebook value that is not valid for the current AAC syntax or decoder path.
Do not diagnose it as a generic buffer-size problem first. It is usually evidence of corrupted section_data, an offset error before the section was read, or a mismatch between profile, escape coding, and scalefactor-band layout.
What to inspect
- The bit offset at the start of section_data.
- The codebook identifiers assigned to each scalefactor-band group.
- Whether the stream uses a profile or escape coding path unsupported by the caller.
