What does Windows error code 1739 (RPC_S_UUID_NO_ADDRESS) mean?

Previous Next
RPC_S_UNSUPPORTED_NAME_SYNTAX RPC_S_DUPLICATE_ENDPOINT

RPC_S_UUID_NO_ADDRESS

This status comes from UUID generation, not endpoint resolution

RPC_S_UUID_NO_ADDRESS is associated with the DCE-style UUID creation model that can use a network interface address as part of generating a UUID. The status does not mean an RPC server address is missing and it is unrelated to RPC_S_NO_ENDPOINT_FOUND.

Historically, time-based UUID generation used a node identifier derived from a network address. The RPC runtime may report this status when it cannot obtain a suitable address for that generation path.

What to check

The diagnostic scope is local UUID creation. Endpoint mapper captures and remote packet traces will not explain why the runtime could not obtain a node address.
