Drive inventory failed before RSM could classify its contents
Library inventory updates the RSM database from changer, slot and drive observations. A drive-status failure prevents RSM from determining whether media is loaded and which object should be associated with that drive. This is not the same as an empty drive; the service could not trust the drive response.
Check the drive object state, device driver and changer path, then inspect the library request failure. Avoid changing media records manually while drive contents are unknown. After hardware communication is restored, rerun inventory and verify that any cartridge formerly assigned to the drive is located consistently.

- Read drive operational state and device-service requests.
- Check driver and hardware events for inquiry or status failures.
- Rerun inventory after communication is stable.
