ERROR_INDIGENOUS_TYPE
A library-supported media type is still required by an installed drive
RSM maintains relations between libraries and the media types supported by their drives. A type reported by a drive is indigenous to that library configuration; deleting the relation would contradict the hardware capability that RSM discovered. This is different from a pool containing media of that type: the restriction exists because an installed drive itself advertises support.
Enumerate drive types in the library and identify which device reports the media type. Remove or reconfigure the supporting drive only if the hardware is genuinely being retired, then refresh device discovery. Do not delete the media-type relation merely to hide cartridges from an application pool.
What to inspect
- List drives and their supported media-type relations.
- Confirm whether the reporting drive is still installed.
- Refresh RSM topology after legitimate hardware removal.
