The library currently contains cleaning media in the relevant location
Cleaning cartridges are managed separately from data cartridges and should occupy the reserved cleaner slot. An operation that expects ordinary media can be blocked when the drive, port or selected location contains a cleaner. The cartridge may be valid and not spent; the conflict is its role in the requested operation.
Identify the cleaner location and the operation that encountered it. Return it to the reserved cleaner slot or eject it through the cleaner workflow before loading data media. If RSM and the hardware disagree about the location, inventory the library rather than treating the cleaner as a generic cartridge.
What to inspect
- Locate the cleaner in the drive, slot or port.
- Move it through the cleaner-specific workflow.
- Inventory the library before resuming data-media operations.
