VDS_E_DISK_NOT_CONVERTIBLE_SIZE
This VDS HRESULT is a size-specific conversion precondition. GPT requires space for a protective MBR, a primary GPT header and entry array, usable LBAs, and backup GPT structures at the end of the device. A very small disk can therefore be unsuitable for conversion even though the partition-style enumeration itself accepts GPT.
Why this state matters
Use the actual logical block size and total device size when evaluating the disk. Do not compare only against a fixed number of megabytes copied from a different-sector-size device. The UEFI GPT layout defines metadata in LBAs, and backup structures consume space at the end of the disk. Also confirm the disk is empty under the VDS ConvertStyle contract before retrying conversion.

- Capture total disk size and logical block size from the current device properties.
- Account for both primary and backup GPT metadata regions when evaluating a very small disk.
- Confirm the disk meets the VDS empty-disk precondition for
ConvertStyle. - Do not use MBR2GPT as a substitute for this VDS empty-disk conversion path; it has a different migration contract.
